The VP, Packet will guide a cross functional team, focused on driving bottom EBITDA growth and overall equity value creation for global packet products. This includes driving improvement and increasing profitability of existing services and developing new services. This role is responsible for the entire product lifecycle including setting the strategy, defining the product promise, executing the product roadmap and ensuring financial, operational and customer experience for Zayo global packet products including: Ethernet, DIA, IP Transit, DDoS, WANs/IP VPN, and CloudLink.

The VP, Packet possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. This role will spend time in the market to understand customers’ needs and challenges, and develop innovative solutions for the broader market.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of Product P&L: Responsible for meeting and exceeding annual financial targets through product positioning, strategic pricing, and the building of complex business cases, leveraging market and data driven insights to justify, support and showcase the performance of investments
  • Product Strategy: Develop a short and long-term strategy for the global packet business line that meets and exceeds annual targets
  • Go-To-Market activation: Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop processes, tools, content, and training to enable sales; Engage in complex deals as needed for business case development, contract negotiations, and general leadership; Support Product Marketing in segmentation, targeting, and development of value propositions for GTM plans.
  • Product Development: Define and drive product roadmap including feature requirements, process and system improvements, and cost/benefit analysis to demonstrate data, financial metrics, competitive analysis and customer insights to ensure overall product strategy is successfully executed.
  • Operational performance: Define and set target SLA’s for delivery & network performance, drive overall product performance, and monitor and manage customer experience.
  • Product Evangelism: Serve as the internal and external product evangelist; drive thought leadership throughout the industry through the creation of marketing content, participation in industry events and other channels.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience product management/product leadership experience, with a track-record of delivering quality, highly reliable products in the telecommunications industry
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience leading a product team with proven P&L success
  • A solid understanding of the competitive landscape
  • Organized, persuasive and analytical, must be able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Comfortable in a dynamic technical organization developing solutions tailored to customers’ needs
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to all levels within an organization, including C-level leadership. Must be able to communicate effectively in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business or similar field
  • Ability to travel

Base pay range: $250,000 – $300,000, commensurate with experience.
